"Mumbai on a platter" was the
very apt billing for the recent launch of gastronomist
Rashmi Uday Singh's "new-look edition" of the
Good Food Guide 2003. The book and the event, at the Taj
Land's End's rambling spilt -level lawns on the Mumbai
sea front, were sponsored by Heinz India, the Indian subsidiary
of American food giant H.J. Heinz. The crowded event was
quite undeniably a celebration in fine dinning with multi-cuisine
offerings by the city's leading restaurants, like the
Taj Konkan Café, Vindhyas, Little Italy, Papa Pancho,
Taj Sea Lounge, Tavaa, Woodland Café, Taj Ming
Yang, Poush, Sweet Bengal, and Kaloobhai Paanwala. "Heinz
has grown from an American dream into a global brand,"
said Heinz India managing director Pradeep Poddar. "It
is thus appropriate for us to promote Rashmi's book as
a brand with increasing promise." Also available
at Rs. 100 a copy, the book is offered free with each
purchase of Heinz Ketchup bottle worth Rs. 65 at all retail
outlets in Mumbai till stocks last.
