| Foodies' Paradise! |
 |
If anyone could have pulled it off, Rashmi
Uday Singh could have - and she did - in style, as she
launched the Good Food Academy yesterday at an event that
was any foodies' paradise.
Counters with hot and cold preparations by chef from different
restaurants and catering establishments lined the perimeter
of the banquet room offering salads, cheese, idiappams,
mango mousse, tarts and drinks.
It was hard to tear Nana Chudasama, Rathikant Basu, Jaideep
Mehrotra, Tanuja (In a rare public appearance and looking
stunning in blue with a short crop), Rajeev Samant, Anjali
Mukherjee, Dinesh Khanna, Poonam Dhillon and Pierre Emmanuel
Jacob away from the feast fit for kings.
But feasting had to pause for formality as Rashmi, along
with some of the chefs participating in the academy like
Rahul Akerkar, Sanjeev Kapoor, Sanjay Malkani, Darius
Rustom, Tarun Chadha, Ganesh and Shilpa Bhambri launched
it with a cooking demo.
What is 'it'? The Good Food Academy, which caters not
just to the novice, but to the enthusiast too, with interesting
modules such as oil-free desserts, classes for bachelors,
market tours, table settings plus all the great cooking
styles and accompaniments.
While not all the members of the advisory board were present,
some like Harsh Goenka (chairman, RPG), Deepak Parekh
(chairman, HDFC) and chef Vernon Coeloh (form Hotel Management
Institute, Dadar) did make it.
The Good Food sessions kick off tomorrow with 'Raw energy:
workshop on salads' by chef Coelho at Bombay Brasserie
(Worli) and there are sessions almost everyday right through
to June which will be conducted by star chefs.
Visiting faculty includes Ananda Soloman, Dhiren Kanwar,
Igor Zago, Meher Dasondi, Nelson Wang and Lisa Ray.
The list is long and tantalizing and available from 2161313.
And these are a set of classes no one would want to bunk,
and the homework's not bad either!
